84th Academy Awards
On Sunday February 26, Billy Crystal hosted the 84th Academy Awards making it his ninth hosting. As the broadcast began “Hugo” won the first two awards, winning five different awards over all in various categories. “The Artist,” won myriads of Oscars, six overall, including the award for best picture and best male in a leading role. “I saw ‘The Artist’ and it was different how there was no sound in it. I thought it was a great movie and that it deserved all the awards it won,” said sophomore Stephani Hendrix. Meryl Streep won her third Oscar for best actress in a leading role for the movie “The Iron Lady.”
“Overall I liked watching the Academy Awards because I love seeing all the stars dressed up. It is neat to recognize all the behind the scene stuff that goes into movies that we don’t really acknowledge,” said freshman Rachel Hickey.
