Tesoro’s Girls Cross Country dominated at the Dana Hills Invitational on Saturday, October 2. The Titan girls proved to be victorious, achieving the highest scores at the meet.

Sophomore Stephanie Lapidus sprinted her way towards having the best time out of the other runners. She was the fastest girl to complete the 3-mile run with a time of 17:12 and came in second for overall time in the meet.

Lapidus’ success in the Division I Sophomore Race did not go unnoticed. Local newspaper the Orange County Register named her as one of the Athletes of the Week for the week of September 27. On her acknowledgment she said, “Dana Hills’ Invitational was a huge accomplishment for me as well as a personal best.  My effort earned me Athlete of the Week in the OC Register and I will always cherish that as a highlight in my running career.”

Three other Tesoro Cross Country girls, freshman Erica Liem, sophomore Emily Scharmann and senior Nicole Corbin, broke Megan Meyer’s record time of 17:45 from 2006.

Liem proudly stated, “I am just so honored to be on the Tesoro cross country team!”

The girls finished the meet with the fastest overall team time, and the prize of knowing that they ranked second in the county.
