Nikita’s Sweet Sixteen
With help from her parents, sophomore Nikita Singh celebrated her sixteenth birthday at Diamond Palace Cuisine of India on Feb. 18. Singh’s sweet sixteen was not like an ordinary sweet sixteen–it had an Indian twist to it. To start the party off right, Singh and her friends came to Diamond Palace in a limousine. After her grand entrance, the party started. It began as any Indian birthday party would–with dance performances. “I felt great when I was dancing, because this time I was dancing for myself not for a competition,” Singh said. After the dance performance, Singh cut her birthday cake and watched a glimpse of her life on a video presentation. Next, it was time for dinner because an Indian party would not be anything without Indian food. “The naan is all that is good in the world,” said junior Summer Kubba. Following the dinner came some freestyle dancing. “The music, the lights, the food even the clothes make the party worthwhile,” said freshman Aashna Shah.
After the party, Singh spoke about what it was like to host such a big party. “I felt kind of stressed before the party, during the party I really didn’t have time to think about anything because I had all my friends there and I was really busy, afterwards I was really tired,” she explained. “I really love my parents for throwing such an awesome party celebrating my 16th birthday.”
