What if… Week-A Wrap up

by

Students seemed to be responding well to the various activities that ASB organized around the campus last week. “What if… Week had a real impact on my life and it truly taught me how to be nicer and how to be a better person.” said sophomore Paris Frattone. The week started off with students designing anti-bullying posters and ended with a spirit day were we could all be coexisting as one ohana or family. The campus looked cleaner  and after the week ended it seems as if everyone had a friend they could lean on if anything wentwrong, the point of What if… Week.

Senior Brennan Kellar creates a poster of an apple and an orange for Monday's anti-bullying theme.

The first day students created posters to prevent bullying and the posters are still hanging up around the school, a week after their making. The second day consisted of  What if.. Everyone made safe decisions.  Much of that focus was on texting while driving.  Wednesday’s was What if…Everyone cared.  ASB set up compliment walls around campus where students could write anonymous compliments and words of support to anyone they wanted. On the fourth day, the goal was for the whole school to dress in any colored plain shirt, which was meant to display our differences yet our unity as well . Lastly on the fifth day ASB put on a winter sports pep rally to conclude What if …Week and students were supposed to be in their Tesoro spirit wear.

The What if…  Week that ASB organized has had an impact on the school, even if it a little change or a big change.

ASB student, Christine Dailey heads up the comment wall, monitoring what complements are put up on the wall.

National Honor Society Welcomes New Members

by

Thirty-eight of Tesoro’s students were welcomed into the National Honor Society on Thursday, December 1.  After Dr. Burch gave a speech, an array of sophomores, juniors, and seniors swore their oath to the National Honor Society.  Despite having National Honor Society Vice President Ryan Pallas and Treasurer Taylor England away at a Mock Trial competition, President Jenna Ward and Secretary Megan O’Brien along with Carrick Reddin and Brooke Silver delivered speeches about the integrity and character expected of a National Honor Society member.  Each new member partook in the candle-lighting ceremony and was officially inducted to the Tesoro National Honor Society chapter.  “I really enjoyed the candle-lighting ceremony.  I’m very excited to be in National Honor Society,” sophomore Christina Du Mont says.  Once the ceremony concluded, deserts lined the tables in the cafeteria.  Symbolic National Honor Society yellow roses were at every table, along with an assortment of treats.  The infamous National Honor Society ice-cream fruit punch did not fail to satisfy the crowd.  With candle and certificate at hand, thirty-eight Tesoro students walked away as the newest members to the National Honor Society.
